Design Solution

The garden is situated below the house and there is currently no direct access between the internal space and the garden. Our solution is a a full length house extension which bridged the gap between the existing house and the garden, stepping down internally to create both a level access to the garden and extra height and maximise natural daylight.

Glazing is maximised to make the most of the mature trees and vegetation in the garden and blur the lines between outside and inside.

The remaining structure of the extension is kept to a minimum, focusing the attention on the garden, the entertainment spaces and the mature vegetation nearby. The internal spaces are design to be flexible, with internal folding doors which lead out onto a small internal swimming pool, which can also be opened out onto the garden area.
