Architects Brief – With an area of approx. 0.4Ha, the site is situated just outside of the village settlement area of Lower Pilsley on Locko Road. The plot was a vacant green field site with a series of fields to the north and east. To the west of the site was the last in a series of houses.
We were again appointed as project architects by Poplar Farm Developments Ltd to create another unique and select housing development that respected the character of this semi-rural village on the outskirts of Chesterfield and embraced the countryside views beyond.
Having studied the form of surrounding development and various development options, the most cost effective and desirable design solution was to form a continuation of the adjacent ribbon development and create a string of individually designed, high quality detached family homes. Utilising four core designs, each home had individual design tweaks and features to create seven unique properties. The development was tied together by utilising similar architectural features throughout and a consistent pallet of materials which were used across the development to create a sense of unity and architectural identity without forming a repetitive mass on the street scene.
The completed scheme has provided seven new detached homes that face out onto and are accessed directly from Locko Road, Lower Pilsley. These properties vary between four and five bedrooms and typically benefit from:
- Large open plan family dining kitchens that open out onto a generous garden and make the most of stunning views out over the surrounding countryside
- Separate Lounge
- En-suite to master bedrooms
- Larger family bathroom
- Integral Garag
