A thoughtful new build design that takes into account the Derbyshire site’s characteristics, paying close attention to the building’s size, alignment, and the choice of materials.
Introducing Woodlands, a unique project nestled in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Our design pays homage to the local landscape, carefully considering the building’s size, alignment, and choice of materials.
Originally a bungalow, we first created a permitted development scheme extending the property into a two-storey structure. We then gained planning permission for the illustrated new build scheme. This option will offer our clients a more spacious and flexible living arrangement, with added sustainable benefits for the long term.
Woodlands has been designed to minimise its impact on the surroundings, using dark timber cladding on the first floor to help it blend into the wooded background. This design approach is inspired by agricultural buildings that often utilise this material and harmoniously work with their surroundings.
The expanded layout caters to the needs of growing children and provides future space for accommodating ageing parents. With designated areas for privacy and communal gathering, the design fosters a sense of togetherness while respecting individual lifestyles. This holistic approach to family living ensures that every member can thrive in a nurturing environment tailored to their evolving needs.
With Woodlands, we aim to combine modern design, practicality and environmental consciousness to create a home that seamlessly integrates with its stunningly beautiful Derbyshire location.
