Carlton Lodge: A Major House Extension & Refurbishemnt
A remarkable home extension
Tucked away in a quiet pocket of woodland near Worksop, Carlton Lodge enjoys sweeping views across North Nottinghamshire. Until recently, though, the house wasn’t making the most of them. Our clients felt the layout was holding them back: dark corners, awkward circulation, and a general sense that the building wasn’t connecting with its surroundings.
This became the starting point for a complete rethink. Our design reshapes both levels of the home to bring in far more daylight, create generous family spaces, and open up those south-west views that had always been there but never fully celebrated. Several material palettes were explored along the way, including a timber-clad concept shown in the early CGIs.
With planning consent secured and a builder now in place, work is due to start on site in 2026. What began as an underwhelming, inward-looking house is on track to become a warm, contemporary home rooted in its woodland setting.
