Cowley Hill Manor: A New Build Home
A new country home with a timeless feel
Cowley Hill Manor was conceived as a substantial new-build family home on the edge of open countryside in North East Derbyshire, replacing a tired post-war property with something rooted in place and designed to endure.
The design paired locally quarried stone with a UK slate roof, featuring Georgian-inspired symmetry, to create a home that would feel quietly settled in its surroundings.
Inside, the layout was designed for modern living, with generous, flowing spaces, tall sash-style windows, and a restrained palette that offered room to gather, space to retreat, and the flexibility for family life to unfold over time.
Although the project was ultimately not taken forward, our variation was recommended for approval, but the client chose to extend their existing home instead. It remains a strong example of the thought, care, and planning expertise we bring to traditionally inspired architecture.
At the top of a steep driveway Cowley Hill Manor overlooks the rolling Derbyshire countryside.
Cowley Hill Manor now sits within our growing “Traditional” collection, a series of homes that blend classical character with contemporary purpose.
If you’re thinking of building in a similar way, we’d be happy to explore your ideas.
